Commercial fridge questions, answered

What temperature should a commercial fridge run at?

Cold enough to hold food at 5°C or below. That's the limit Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) sets for potentially hazardous food in Standard 3.2.2 of the Food Standards Code. Check it with a probe thermometer, not just the display. Product pages list each fridge's temperature range wherever the maker publishes it.

How is a commercial fridge different from a household one?

It's built for a busy door and a hot room. Makers rate each commercial model for a maximum room temperature (from 25°C up to 43°C across our range), and many use fan-forced air to pull the temperature back down after the door opens. A household fridge isn't designed for that kind of work.

Glass door or solid door?

Glass sells: customers and staff can see the stock without opening the door. Solid doors keep the cold in better and suit back-of-house storage. For drinks and grab-and-go, go glass; for the kitchen, go solid.

How do I know it will fit?

Measure the space, add the gap the maker asks for around the vents (Polar's G-Series display fridge asks for 20 cm to the wall), and check every doorway on the way in. Product pages list the width, depth and height, and the cart asks you to confirm you've checked size and power.

Do I need a 10 amp or 15 amp power point?

Check the plug on the product page. A 10 amp plug fits a standard power point. A 15 amp plug has a wider earth pin and needs a 15 amp outlet. Three-phase units need a three-phase supply fitted by an electrician.

What does a commercial fridge cost to run?

Take the maker's energy figure in kWh per 24 hours, multiply by 365, then by your electricity rate. A fridge rated at 3.82 kWh a day uses about 1,394 kWh a year: roughly $418 at 30c per kWh.

Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes, anywhere in Australia (we don't ship overseas). Standard delivery is kerbside to a commercial address: the driver unloads at your loading bay or front door. Need it inside, or delivered at a set time? Ask before you order and we'll quote a premium delivery. Delivery terms and FAQ.

Who looks after warranty and repairs?

The maker's supplier. New products come with at least a 12-month manufacturer's warranty (accessories and parts aside). Claims go to each brand's supplier in writing, and our warranty page shows how to claim for every brand. Need a copy of your invoice? We'll send it.
